Growing up in the heart of Amish country, in and around Strasburg, PA, all of our guides have individual and unique ties to the Amish community and have always enjoyed showing off the “true” Lancaster County. This rich, immersive experience is personally designed to give you a rare window into the authentic Amish culture. Every meal is an amazing experience! Vegetarian meals are available. Please note this tour is not confirmed until we secure an Amish Family host. These meals are prepared in their private homes, which are not licensed or inspected. The Turkey Hill Experience features interactive exhibits allowing you to learn about dairy culture, the story of Turkey Hill Dairy, and how the company's ice cream and iced tea flavors are selected and created. You will truly experience what it's like to be a Turkey Hill Dairy ice cream maker for a day, including the opportunity to create your own virtual ice cream flavor. In addition, you can sit in our vintage milk truck, milk our mechanical cows, star in your very own Turkey Hill commercial, and enjoy plenty of free samples of iced tea and ice cream! Visit the Turkey Hill Experience in Columbia, PA - right here in Lancaster County.
Instructional Art is a fun way to detach from the stressors of life and allow your creativity to flow while having gentle guidance along the way. I create paintings/designs that are easy to follow and deliver a result of satisfaction and pride. The painting process and take home results always deliver memories because it is hands-on. Add to this process a unique, away-from-home atmosphere and the experience increases exponentially, thus creating a memory never to be forgotten.
I am a current Trip Advisor guide who has a deep understanding of Lancaster - and also an avid runner! I thought this was a perfect combination for a new way to explore Lancaster.Part of our route will also be in the shape of a PEACE sign, which would be really cool to share with your friends on a map after the route!
We’ll kick it off at the hub of Lancaster, our colonial square, and begin to explore the concentration of historical sites spanning three centuries – all within just a couple of blocks! The nation’s oldest continuously operating farmers market and theater, the birthplace of the Conestoga Wagon, homes of some of Lancaster’s most famous citizens, colonial churches, and much more will be brought to life through stories, characters, arts and architecture. You will learn the out-sized roll our small city played in the birth and growth of America as you stroll through charming streets and alleys and begin to understand the building blocks that take us to the present day. Sound great? Well there is still much more. After our old city history walk, we will whet our whistle at some of Lancaster’s finest craft beer establishments – and the history isn’t over. You will learn how much of our colorful past is tied to beer.
