We will begin and end at Wacker Brewery. Guests will need to provide their own automobile. I will guide you via Bluetooth, including the former Sprenger Brewery, 2nd Gear Taproom, Rieker Bottling works, and other sites in between. You will experience the interwoven and fascinating connections of 19th century German Brewers to the history of Lancaster. Often described as the Munich of the U.S., Lancaster at times produced as much as 20% of the nation’s beer. Through intriguing stories and insights you will learn how industry, architecture, arts, and culture enjoy a rich and symbiotic relationship with Lager Beer. You’ll visit catacombs and resurrected breweries, the unlikely industrial site that drove German immigration, the original saloon of one of the most prominent breweries of the time, and the literal end of the line for prohibition trickery. And just to make it interesting, we will be sampling the fruits of 165 years of experience along the way!
My father was born Amish and I grew up Mennonite just outside of Strasburg, PA. I have toured people around this area since I've been a kid and have always enjoyed showing off the "true" Lancaster County. I built this experience as an incredibly unique way to submerse yourself in the true Amish culture and have trained fellow guides to ensure every meal is an amazing experience. Our time together will include a brief tour of the Lancaster County countrysides, historic landmarks, history of the Amish, and conclude by meeting an Amish family in their home for a sit-down meal and interacting with their family and farm animals. Due to the unpredictable nature of scheduling meals with Amish families, the exact time/day could be subject to change. We will do our best to fulfill your request!
